It has to be remembered that the state of Israel was founded in terrorism during the British mandate for Palestine, by the Irgun and Zionist fighters known as the Stern Gang led by Menachem Begin (Israeli PM 1977-83). This gang were designated TERRORISTS by the British after bomb attacks on British bases and the assassination of Lord Moyne the British Minister of State for the Mi ddle East. Begin as the leader of the terrorists had a 'price on his head'. The British sent in their General Cunningham in 1946 to deal with the Jewish terrorists, who retaliated by bombing the King David Hotel.

One person's terrorist is another person's freedom fighter and even possible future head of state. There are many examples in recent history. War never achieves a solution to inter state disputes. In the end all parties have to be involved in a solution.

Israeli ministers assert that they will not talk to Hamas, the democratically elected government of Gaza, who they label as 'terrorists.'
However it is worth pointing out that former Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni's father was denounced a terrorist by the British.
He was a member of the notorious Irgun / Stern gang, and was involved in blowing up the 'King David' hotel in Jerusalem during the British mandate, killing 91 people including some Jews. The Stern Gang terrorists were led by Menachem Begin, later Israeli Prime Minister 1977-83.
One person's 'terrorist' is another's 'freedom fighter'. The Hamas political leadership is a crucial factor in any lasting peace agreement.

Israel must lift its blockade of Gaza and cease its continued oppression of the Palestine peoples. The Israeli politicians and the ultra orthodox Zionists benefit from a constituency of people fearful and paranoid of their neighbours. Hamas should refrain from being provoked into retaliation, and unite politically with Fata and friendly powers in forging a lasting peace in the region.

The people of Gaza must be guaranteed immediate security of boundaries by the United Nations, and freed from their Israeli 'open prison'.

A permanent solution to all problems in the Middle East is focused around the Palestine Issue. The international community via the UN must guarantee the integrity and freedom of a viable State of Palestine to include the West Bank, Gaza strip and other land illegally occupied by Israel. Dialogue between the UN and Hamas must take place since Hamas was the choice of elected government by the people involved.
